Population: 37,700

Founded:  1914

Fun Fact: Prosper, Texas got its name in 1902 when railroad officials chose it because the local farming community was thriving

Prosper's motto is "A Place Where Everyone Matters," and it shows in the town's small-town feel, sought-after schools and beautifully planned neighborhoods.

Why People Are Moving to Prosper

Prosper's population roughly quadrupled between 2010 and 2023, and the town still feels intentionally planned rather than crowded.

  • Town-and-country feel. Downtown Prosper and events like the annual Founders Fest keep the community close-knit.
  • Premium homes. Prosper is known for larger lots, custom builds and luxury communities.
  • Schools. Most of Prosper is served by Prosper ISD, a major draw for many buyers.
  • Location. The Dallas North Tollway, Preston Road and US-380 put Prosper minutes from Frisco's shopping, dining and employers.

Prosper Neighborhoods and Communities

Windsong Ranch. Prosper's best-known master-planned community, on the west side of town, with a large swimmable lagoon, trails and resort-style amenities.

Star Trail. A newer master-planned community near the Dallas North Tollway with parks, trails and homes from multiple builders.

Gentle Creek Estates. Larger custom homes in an established, golf-oriented setting.

Whitley Place and Lakes of Prosper. Established neighborhoods with mature landscaping close to central Prosper.

Downtown Prosper. A growing town center with older homes, new infill and local shops and restaurants.

Prosper School Districts

Most of Prosper is served by Prosper ISD, but some areas on the Denton County side are zoned to Denton ISD. Two homes in the same master-planned community can sometimes be in different districts.

If schools matter to you, tell me early. I'll confirm the zoned schools for every home before you write an offer.
